Overview

In many standards, the colour of sources or materials should fall within well-defined colour regions. The reporting of colour regions can be automated in Benwin+ using the colour regions function in the colourimetric view.

In Benwin+, go to analysis/ set colour regions to reveal the following dialogue box

Defining Colour Region(s)

1. Choose whether region defined by polygon (n vertices) or circle

2. Select co-ordinate system (xy (1931), uv (1960) or u'v; (1976)

3. Type name of region

4. Define co-ordinates of colour regions(s) (see below)

5. Hit add

6. If more regions to be added, change name and proceed as above, selecting add at the end.

7. Hit save and give suitable file name

8. To load existing colour region files, simply hit load and select

9. To delete regions. highlight in the upper table and select remove

10. At the end of measurement, in the CIE diagram view, Benwin+ will report the name of the region (if any) in which the results for the measurement lie

Defining co-ordinates- Polygon

Example. ANSI C78.377-2015 Specifications for the Chromaticity of Solid State Lighting (SSL) Products, CCT binning

1. Choose whether region defined by polygon (n vertices) or circle

2. Select co-ordinate system (xy (1931), uv (1960) or u'v; (1976)

3. Type name of region

4. Select number of points and specify whether points input clockwise or anti-clockwise.

5. Input xy (or uv/u'v' according to co-ordinate system used) for co-ordinates of region

6. Hit add to include in list of regions

Defining co-ordinates- Circular

Example: MIL STD 3009 Night vision compatibility-colour specifications

1. Region defined by circle

2. Select co-ordinate system, here u'v' (1976)

3. Type name of region

4. Input co-ordinates of centre of circle and define radius

5. Hit add to include in list of regions
